Referral Nurse

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks a dedicated Referral Nurse to join its emergency medical services team. You will provide rapid clinical care and support to patients in pre‑hospital settings, ensuring safe transport and continuity of care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform rapid patient assessment, triage, and stabilization at the scene and during transport.
• Deliver emergency nursing interventions such as airway management, oxygen therapy, IV access, medication administration, wound care, and cardiac monitoring.
• Assist in advanced life support (ALS) procedures within the scope of practice.
• Collaborate with paramedics, ambulance drivers, physicians, and other responders during emergencies.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and communicate status to receiving facilities.
• Maintain ambulance equipment, medications, and supplies; ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
• Valid nursing license/registration with the relevant regulatory body.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Life Support (ALS/ACLS) preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in emergency, critical care, or acute care nursing (preferred).
• Pre‑hospital or ambulance experience is an advantage.
