Operations Room Manager

About the role

The Operations Room Manager ensures the 24/7 functionality of the ICRC delegation’s Operations Room in Sudan, overseeing the safety, security and tracking of all land and air movements. Acting as a critical link between field operations and senior leadership, the role coordinates real‑time security analysis and responds to incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily live tracking of road and air movements using digital tools (GSAT, mobile logs) and pilot new tracking systems.
• Compile weekly field trip requests, enforce SOP compliance and secure management approvals.
• Monitor RED flight movements and verify security conditions at key locations in coordination with AirOps, Security and Welcome teams.
• Supervise, coach and evaluate a team of seven radio operators, managing shifts to guarantee 24/7 continuity.
• Conduct visitor tracking and personnel headcounts to ensure 100% staff accountability across sub‑delegations.
• Own the warden system in PSU for rapid information dissemination and support access‑control monitoring.
• Guide radio operators during security incidents, issue safety advice and maintain logbooks and the SAFE security tool.
• Alert senior management immediately during crises, produce situation reports and participate in the delegation’s crisis cell.
• Analyse internal and external data to produce security trend reports and daily risk updates for management.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a team in a security‑focused environment.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian operations and crisis management.
• Ability to work under pressure and make rapid, accurate decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with field teams and senior leadership.
