Nutritionist

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross is seeking a Nutritionist to support its Economic Security (EcoSec) unit in Sudan. The role combines technical nutrition responsibilities with broader economic‑security tasks, ensuring nutrition indicators are integrated into field assessments and aid programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy data‑collection tools that capture nutrition indicators such as MUAC, oedema and food‑consumption measures.
• Support field teams in data collection, enter data into survey databases and maintain the Project and Activity Management (PAM) platform.
• Analyse quantitative and qualitative field data, produce visual representations and conduct SWOT analyses to inform response options.
• Assist in beneficiary registration, develop distribution plans and carry out on‑site aid distributions, including vouchers, cash transfers and food‑for‑work programmes.
• Forecast, project and track consumption of nutrition products for general food distribution and hospital programmes.
• Collaborate with Health and Water & Habitat teams to draft patient diets and train staff on nutritional assessments.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in nutrition, public health or a related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or emergency settings, preferably with the Red Cross/Red Crescent network.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams in challenging environments.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
