MEAL Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a MEAL Officer to strengthen monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) activities in its field office. You will work closely with the MEAL Manager, senior coordinators and project staff to ensure high‑quality data collection, analysis and reporting that supports humanitarian programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update M&E tools, databases and monthly reporting formats in collaboration with the MEAL Manager and sector leads.
• Plan and track monthly MEAL activities, sharing activity plans with senior staff.
• Support staff in mobile data collection using Kobo Collect, CommCare and IRC apps.
• Provide regular performance and quality monitoring, share findings from field visits and document actions for improvement.
• Maintain the Indicator Performance Tracking Table (IPTT) and Project Indicator Dashboard (PID), highlighting gaps and critical issues.
• Conduct data audits, compile indicator reports per grant, and circulate actionable summaries to relevant managers.
• Produce quarterly gender‑ and age‑disaggregated beneficiary counts.
• Advise field staff on data management and storage in partnership with IT.
• Develop sustainable feedback mechanisms for beneficiaries and support global MEAL initiatives.
• Assist with assessments, surveys, data analysis and report writing.

Required profile

• Experience with MEAL activities in humanitarian or development settings.
• Strong analytical and reporting abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and senior managers.
• Attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
