Gender Specialist

About the role

Plan International Sudan is looking for an experienced Gender Specialist to lead technical oversight and gender mainstreaming for the GPE BRIDGES programme and a potential Education Cannot Wait multi‑year resilience programme. The role will support inclusive, safe learning environments for children and adolescents in conflict‑affected areas of Sudan.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight to Plan staff and consortium partners on gender strategies and action plans.
• Integrate gender‑transformative approaches within the Humanitarian Response Plan and ensure alignment with INEE standards, ECW/GPE gender policies, CPMS and the Gender in Humanitarian Action framework.
• Lead quarterly gender analyses and gender‑in‑education needs assessments.
• Strengthen linkages between gender‑transformative education and GBV risk‑mitigation activities.
• Embed gender, disaster risk reduction and conflict sensitivity into programme design and contribute to concept notes and resource mobilisation.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in gender mainstreaming, GBV prevention and response within humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to manage programme cycles in insecure and politically sensitive environments.
• Strong leadership, coordination and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and knowledge of Arabic.
