Economic Recovery Specialist

About the role

The Economic Recovery Specialist will lead and support DRC’s economic recovery programmes in Sudan, delivering cash‑and‑voucher assistance, business training, SME development and related livelihood interventions. The role works closely with local partners, UN and INGOs to ensure high‑quality, compliant programming that contributes to the country’s recovery strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor cash and voucher activities (CVA) and Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) interventions.
• Provide business training, SME development, business grants, life‑skills and vocational training to beneficiaries.
• Build technical capacity of DRC staff and local partners to strengthen implementation and sustainability.
• Ensure all activities comply with DRC procedures, guidelines and the overall area and country strategy.
• Represent DRC in humanitarian coordination forums, engage with UN and INGO counterparts and promote partner participation.
• Develop high‑quality project proposals, reports and contribute to area strategic planning.
• Oversee grant administration, personnel management and monitoring & evaluation, fostering partner‑led approaches.

Required profile

• Proven experience in economic recovery or livelihood programmes within humanitarian contexts.
• Strong knowledge of cash‑and‑voucher assistance, rapid response mechanisms and SME development.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical support and capacity‑building to local partners.
• Experience representing an organisation in coordination platforms and working with UN/INGO stakeholders.
• Ability to ensure compliance with organisational policies and to produce high‑quality proposals and reports.
