Cash & Market Specialist

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Sudan is seeking a Cash & Market Specialist to provide technical support for cash‑based assistance programmes. The role ensures that cash interventions are designed, implemented and monitored in line with ICRC standards, helping vulnerable populations affected by conflict.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure cash‑based interventions follow SOPs and provide troubleshooting support to field teams.
• Lead market assessments, price monitoring and post‑distribution monitoring for cash activities.
• Coordinate beneficiary data analysis, duplication checks and accurate documentation of cash transfers.
• Assess Financial Service Providers (FSPs) using ICRC tools and support internal cash transfer processes.
• Deliver short‑term assignments for feasibility studies, cash transfer design and monitoring.
• Maintain liaison with Cash Working Groups, FSPs and PROT colleagues for referrals and collaborations.
• Update central cash activity data, prepare monthly cash forecasts and contribute to strategic and operational plans.
• Provide training and on‑the‑job support to colleagues and act as focal point for institutional reporting on cash and market components.

Required profile

• Experience in cash‑based humanitarian programmes or economic security interventions.
• Strong analytical skills for market and beneficiary data.
• Ability to work collaboratively with field teams, partners and internal support functions.
• Good understanding of financial service providers and cash transfer modalities.
