Psychologist – Humanitarian Mental Health Support

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) seeks a qualified Psychologist to lead and strengthen Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities in the Aljunaina area of responsibility and other accessible locations. Working under the Head of Sub‑delegation and the MHPSS delegate, you will design, implement and monitor culturally appropriate services for individuals affected by armed conflict, including weapon‑wounded patients and survivors of sexual violence.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, design and develop MHPSS services at community and health‑facility levels.
• Integrate MHPSS activities with other ICRC programmes, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach.
• Facilitate culturally appropriate awareness sessions, individual consultations and group support sessions.
• Apply monitoring and evaluation tools in line with the ICRC MHPSS framework, ensuring data quality and confidentiality.
• Develop detailed referral pathways and establish links with internal and external service providers.
• Train, coach and support MHPSS practitioners and healthcare workers to deliver direct support.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualification in psychology or a related field.
• Experience in delivering MHPSS services in humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and local stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of cultural sensitivities and ethical standards in mental health care.
