Humanitarian Access Safety and Security Manager

About the role

The Humanitarian Access Safety and Security Manager will lead the implementation and compliance of Save the Children’s Safety and Security Policy across country programmes and field operations. This senior position works closely with programme managers, field staff and emergency teams to embed safety and security into all phases of humanitarian work.

Key responsibilities

• Engage country programme management and staff to promote adoption of safety and security standards.
• Conduct quarterly Security Risk Assessments for field offices, emergency responses and humanitarian operations, and share findings with leadership.
• Develop and deliver capacity‑building training on safety and security for country and field staff.
• Provide technical advice, guidance and support to field offices, emergency teams and incident management teams.
• Coordinate the appointment of a Safety and Security Focal Point for each emergency response project.
• Review and improve country security guidelines, evacuation plans and standard operating procedures.
• Integrate safety and security considerations into programme design from the earliest planning stages.
• Support the preparation of major events and critical security incidents, including budget management and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety and security management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong knowledge of security risk assessment methodologies and emergency response coordination.
• Ability to work with senior management and field teams to influence policy adoption.
• Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
• Experience managing security budgets and reporting on performance indicators.
