Gender Specialist

About the role

Plan International Sudan is seeking an experienced Gender Specialist to provide technical leadership and gender mainstreaming for the GPE BRIDGES programme and a potential Education Cannot Wait (ECW) Multi‑Year Resilience Programme. The role will ensure gender‑responsive and gender‑transformative approaches are integrated across consortium partners, supporting safe and inclusive learning environments for children and adolescents affected by conflict.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical oversight of gender mainstreaming for the GPE BRIDGES and ECW programmes.
• Provide gender‑responsive guidance to consortium members and implementing partners.
• Coordinate with education thematic leads to align programme activities with gender equity objectives.
• Support the development of strategies to prevent and respond to gender‑based violence (GBV) and promote empowerment of women and girls.
• Engage local and national education stakeholders to advocate for inclusive policies.

Required profile

• Extensive demonstrable experience in gender or GBV within humanitarian settings.
• Strong knowledge of gender mainstreaming, community‑level gender‑transformative approaches, protection, and inclusion/disability.
• Proven ability to manage programme cycles in insecure and politically sensitive environments.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and strong leadership and coordination skills.
