Area Support Manager – Sudan Darfur (Multiple Positions)

About the role

The Area Support Manager (ASM) is a senior position within the NRC Sudan Area Office in Darfur. The ASM coordinates HR, finance and logistics support functions, relieving the Area Manager of operational support duties and ensuring high‑impact delivery for displaced families.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage directly reporting support staff, overseeing performance management, goal setting and staff development.
• Drive workforce planning, recruitment, staff induction and ensure duty of care for all personnel.
• Represent the support department in the Area Management Group and ensure compliance with NRC policies, donor and auditor requirements.
• Align operational support with the Area Plan of Action, facilitate area‑level budgeting and produce regular reports for the Country Office.
• Implement country‑specific SOPs, guidelines and tools across HR, logistics/ICT and finance.
• Organise and deliver trainings for programme staff on finance, logistics and HR procedures.
• Build technical capacity of support staff and conduct spot‑checks to improve documentation quality.
• Contribute to strategic resource management and ensure a fit‑for‑purpose support strategy.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with proven experience in managing HR, finance and logistics functions in humanitarian or development settings.
• Strong leadership and line‑management skills, capable of guiding multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent understanding of NRC policies, donor compliance and internal control standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme teams and senior management.
