Monitoring, Evidence, Accountability & Learning Officer (Sudan – Al Geneina)

About the role

The Monitoring, Evidence, Accountability & Learning Officer will support NRC Sudan’s programme in Al Geneina by establishing and maintaining robust MEAL systems. The role involves data collection, analysis, reporting and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and PSEA standards.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to NRC policies and contribute to area‑level concept note development.
• Provide regular progress reports to area managers, project managers and the MEAL Coordinator.
• Assist in designing log‑frames, formulating indicators and developing MEAL matrices during project planning.
• Support the creation and maintenance of a data management system and ensure timely entry of monitoring data into GORS.
• Develop data collection methodologies, tools and conduct field data collection as needed.
• Coordinate the complaints and feedback mechanism (CFM), process beneficiary contacts and maintain the CFM database.
• Deliver training and refresher sessions on MEAL and CFM for programme staff.
• Promote and integrate PSEA and safeguarding practices across the area office.
• Report 4Ws for Shelter, WASH, ICLA, RRM and Education sectors.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning in humanitarian or development programmes.
• Experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal) and ability to travel within Sudan.
• Demonstrated ability to produce documented results related to MEAL responsibilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience using digital data collection platforms such as KoBo, CommCare and Ona.
• Familiarity with GORS reporting system.
