National Field Coordinator (Nationals Only)

About the role

The National Field Coordinator will support OCHA’s access strategy in Sudan, working closely with the Head of Access Unit, Deputy Head of Office and other senior staff. The role involves analysing access dynamics, monitoring humanitarian developments and ensuring principled delivery of assistance across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of the humanitarian access strategy, including actor mapping and context analysis.
• Monitor, analyse and report on humanitarian developments, disaster relief and emergency situations.
• Prepare regular access papers, reports and briefings highlighting policy and operational factors affecting access.
• Maintain and update the access database, providing timely analysis to coordination stakeholders.
• Organise and facilitate inter‑agency technical review meetings and support negotiations with government and other partners to secure and sustain humanitarian access.
• Provide technical assistance to field offices, participate in field missions and contribute to policy development and advocacy initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong analytical capacity with ability to assess humanitarian dimensions and integrate information from multiple sources.
• Proven ability to work under extreme pressure and in stressful environments, providing guidance to junior staff.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy.
• Commitment to gender perspectives and inclusive humanitarian practice.
• Team‑oriented mindset, capable of collaborating with diverse partners and agencies.
