Country Director Sudan

About the role

Action Against Hunger is seeking a senior leader to head its mission in Sudan. The Country Director will be responsible for delivering high‑quality humanitarian assistance, influencing policy, and ensuring the mission’s strategic objectives are met over a 12‑month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall mission, ensuring alignment with regional and national strategies.
• Manage resources, budgeting and fundraising in coordination with headquarters.
• Motivate and supervise the team, handling conflict resolution and professional development.
• Represent Action Against Hunger with donors, authorities, NGOs, and international bodies.
• Oversee security, ethics, anti‑fraud policies and the implementation of the organization’s charter of principles.
• Promote technical innovation and best‑practice replication across programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience at Country Director level in an international NGO.
• Strong knowledge of key humanitarian donors and excellent networking skills.
• Experience in emergency response coordination and strategic planning.
• Proven leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Familiarity with the Sudan context or previous work with Action Against Hunger is a plus.
