Chief of Cash Implementation Unit (P-5) – Fixed Term – Port Sudan

About the role

The Chief of the Cash Implementation Unit (CIU) provides overall leadership, coordination and operational oversight of UNICEF's cash‑based programmes in Sudan. Reporting to the Deputy Representative (Operations) and working closely with the Deputy Representative (Programme), the role ensures that cash interventions are delivered efficiently, accountably and in line with UNICEF policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the CIU team, ensuring timely performance planning, evaluations and staff development.
• Oversee beneficiary data and payment management, risk and performance monitoring, and grievance redress mechanisms.
• Coordinate cash‑based modalities across programme sections, including implementing partner management and fraud investigation follow‑up.
• Ensure compliance with UNICEF operational procedures and accountability frameworks.
• Manage cash coordination activities with national authorities, NGOs and other humanitarian actors.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in managing cash‑based humanitarian programmes at a senior level.
• Strong knowledge of risk‑informed project implementation and monitoring.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, volatile environments.
• Excellent understanding of UNICEF policies, standards and accountability mechanisms.
