Risk & Compliance Manager

About the role

The Risk & Compliance Manager leads country‑wide risk management, compliance, internal controls, audit assurance, partner due diligence, accountability, complaints handling and safeguarding for World Relief Sudan.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the country risk register, assess risks, assign owners and track mitigation actions.
• Establish risk‑based internal controls and advise senior management on material risks and control weaknesses.
• Develop and execute an annual risk‑based audit and compliance review plan, coordinate internal and external audits, and verify corrective actions.
• Lead partner due diligence, risk rating and ongoing monitoring throughout the partnership lifecycle.
• Maintain systems for donor, legal and contractual compliance and provide guidance on donor rules.
• Serve as the Accountability Focal Point, overseeing AAP, complaints and feedback mechanisms and safeguarding escalations.
• Supervise Risk & Compliance Officers, provide technical leadership and produce quarterly performance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, Public Administration, Development Studies, Risk Management or related field.
• 7‑10 years progressive experience in risk management, compliance, audit or internal controls, including 3‑5 years in an INGO context.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
• Willingness to travel regularly to area offices, project sites and remote or insecure locations.
• Demonstrated integrity, objectivity and ability to handle confidential information.
