Area Manager - Sudan

About the role

The Area Manager will lead HI’s emergency response team in North Darfur, overseeing program implementation, stakeholder coordination, and security management in a challenging humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the operational strategy for the programme, ensuring alignment with global priorities.
• Manage relationships with local authorities, donors, and key stakeholders, and represent HI’s technical expertise.
• Ensure compliance with HI global frameworks, institutional policies, donor rules, and contractual commitments.
• Lead emergency preparedness actions and support security monitoring in the area.
• Coordinate a team of seven staff, oversee project monitoring, risk mitigation, and business development opportunities.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of area/field/project management experience in complex, conflict‑affected humanitarian contexts.
• Proven managerial and security management experience.
• Experience in donor relations, fundraising, and strategic positioning.
• Fluent in English (oral and written); Arabic is a plus.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work in remote, insecure areas.

What we offer

• 6‑month international fixed‑term contract starting 14 Nov 2026.
• Gross salary of €2,869 per month, plus €706 net per diem and €500 net hardship allowance.
