Area Manager – Nuba Mountains

About the role

The Area Manager will lead Save the Children’s programmes in the Nuba Mountains region of Sudan, reporting to the Deputy Country Director of Programs & Operations. The role is responsible for ensuring that all field‑based projects are delivered in line with donor agreements, humanitarian standards and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee implementation of programmes across the field office, ensuring compliance with award requirements and Save the Children standards.
• Develop and monitor work plans, procurement plans and phased budgets, tracking progress against financial and programme targets on a monthly basis.
• Facilitate kick‑off and close‑out meetings, and ensure robust monitoring, evaluation and learning systems are in place.
• Produce high‑quality internal and donor reports that support strategic decision‑making.
• Contribute to project design, ensuring new proposals align with area strategy and are adequately resourced.
• Work with Programme Managers to develop contingency plans and support emergency preparedness.
• Coordinate effectively with thematic and support departments, raising field‑level issues to senior management as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing humanitarian programmes and grants in complex environments.
• Strong understanding of child protection, education and livelihoods sectors.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary field teams and liaise with donors, government and partners.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
