Planning Specialist (P-3)

About the role

The Planning Specialist (P-3) will support UNICEF’s strategic and programme planning for Sudan’s country programme. Working under the Chief of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME), the role bridges programme design, monitoring, and reporting to ensure evidence‑based, rights‑focused interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and coordinate the Situation Analysis for relevant programme areas, updating it regularly.
• Monitor and analyse social, political and economic trends affecting women and children, translating findings into actionable recommendations.
• Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Country Programme, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s results‑based management framework.
• Collaborate with monitoring, evaluation, information management, programme management and situation reporting teams.
• Strengthen capacity of national, sectoral and decentralized teams for risk‑informed, rights‑based planning and performance management.

Required profile

• Professional experience in strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Ability to work closely with multiple functional teams and field offices.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret trends and translate them into programme guidance.
