MEAL Coordinator

About the role

We are seeking a MEAL Coordinator to lead performance monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning for Welthungerhilfe’s Country Strategy in Sudan. The role is based in Khartoum and focuses on food‑system resilience, humanitarian response and partnership localisation, ensuring data‑driven decision‑making across programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and periodically review the country MEAL strategy and action plan in line with organisational and donor standards.
• Establish and maintain MEAL procedures, tools and quality‑assurance mechanisms for WHH and partner‑implemented projects.
• Provide evidence‑based advice to senior leadership on programme performance, risks and adaptation opportunities.
• Translate the Country Strategy into an integrated performance and learning framework and coordinate regular portfolio reviews.
• Lead technical quality assurance for programme design, theories of change, logframes, indicators, sampling plans and data collection tools.
• Supervise and build capacity of MEAL staff, programme teams and partners on monitoring, evaluation and accountability practices.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field such as development studies, social sciences, public health or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning within humanitarian or development programmes.
• Strong understanding of food‑system interventions, climate resilience and localisation principles.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
