Finance Manager

About the role

Medair is seeking a Finance Manager to lead all financial activities for its country programme in Sudan. The role ensures accurate reporting, strong stewardship of donor and organisational funds, and compliance with statutory and donor requirements while supporting health, nutrition, WASH and shelter projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting, treasury management and grant financial oversight.
• Deliver accurate, timely and compliant financial reports, monitor performance against budgets and grants, and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, statutory regulations, organisational policies and accounting standards through robust controls and governance.
• Conduct financial risk assessments, develop mitigation plans and coordinate audits.
• Oversee grant financial management throughout the project lifecycle, including budgeting, expenditure monitoring, reporting and close‑out.
• Strengthen financial systems, processes and controls via continuous improvement, automation and transformation initiatives.
• Provide strategic financial analysis, modelling and performance insights to support senior leadership decisions.
• Partner with programme teams on budgets, funding proposals, resource allocation and scenario planning.
• Lead, develop and mentor finance staff, building capability across programme teams and partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Chartered Accountant qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading finance functions in donor‑funded or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong knowledge of donor compliance, statutory regulations and international accounting standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage grants, budgets and financial reporting for multi‑sector programmes.
