Senior Protection Manager (Women Protection & Empowerment)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Senior Protection Manager to lead Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) programming in South Kordofan, Sudan. This field‑based position provides senior operational leadership, technical oversight, and coordination with health, economic recovery, and other sectors in a volatile emergency context.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and oversight of WPE services, ensuring survivor‑centered, safe, and context‑appropriate delivery.
• Ensure high‑quality implementation of GBV case management, psychosocial support, referrals, and emergency response, with a focus on conflict‑related sexual violence.
• Translate country‑level WPE strategies into actionable field plans and adapt programming to evolving security and displacement dynamics.
• Maintain compliance with global GBV standards, IRC policies, and WPE SOPs, overseeing data quality and confidentiality in GBVIMS.
• Supervise WPE officers, case workers, outreach staff; lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff wellbeing initiatives.
• Represent IRC WPE programming in inter‑agency coordination mechanisms and ensure risk mitigation across activities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing GBV or women’s protection programs in humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster a learning‑oriented culture.
• Strong analytical skills for data‑driven decision‑making and risk assessment.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities with donors, partners, and local authorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GBVIMS (Gender‑Based Violence Information Management System).
