Protection Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Officer to lead and supervise protection interventions across multiple locations in Sudan. You will work closely with the Protection Team Leader, Manager and field staff to ensure high‑quality GBV prevention, general protection and community‑based programming.

Key responsibilities

• Technically supervise Protection Assistants, partner staff and community volunteers in GBV prevention and protection programming.
• Identify capacity gaps, propose solutions and deliver capacity‑strengthening sessions.
• Ensure service delivery meets DRC SOPs, global standards and technical guidance.
• Implement protection monitoring, collecting data through FGDs, KIIs, observations and incident reporting using Kobo.
• Lead community engagement, information dissemination via protection desks and awareness‑raising sessions.
• Facilitate group dialogue, mentor community structures and address protection concerns.
• Supervise and facilitate Engaging Men as Allies (EMAA) curriculum and psychosocial support (PSS) sessions.
• Develop and contextualise protection tools and materials.
• Provide capacity‑building initiatives on protection topics and ensure protection mainstreaming across all project activities.
• Promote diversity among community mobilisers and focal points.

Required profile

• Proven experience in protection programming, GBV prevention and community‑based protection.
• Ability to supervise, train and mentor staff and volunteers.
• Strong knowledge of EMAA curriculum and psychosocial support interventions.
• Experience in monitoring, data collection and analysis.
• Excellent communication and community engagement skills.
• Capacity to develop protection tools and materials.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive practices.
