Protection Assistant

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Protection Assistant to support vulnerable populations across several regions in Sudan. Working under the supervision of the Protection Manager, the role focuses on case management, protection monitoring, and community‑based protection activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide case management services, including needs assessments, action‑plan development, referrals and follow‑up.
• Deliver individual protection assistance (cash or in‑kind) and document all actions according to DRC data‑protection protocols.
• Conduct protection monitoring using focus groups, key informant interviews, observations and incident recording with KoBoToolbox.
• Engage Community‑Based Protection Networks (CBPNs) and community mobilizers in data collection and protection risk analysis.
• Record community feedback, complaints and actions taken, and forward data to the Protection Officer.
• Support the establishment, orientation and capacity‑building of CBPNs, including training on the Code of Conduct and PSEA.
• Maintain regular contact with community volunteers and report on activities and challenges.

Required profile

• Ability to implement case management, protection monitoring, awareness sessions and community‑based protection activities under supervision.
• Experience working with vulnerable groups in humanitarian settings is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with beneficiaries, community mobilizers and other stakeholders.
