MEAL Assistant – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a MEAL Assistant to support monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities for projects in Gezira State, Sudan. You will work closely with program staff and the MEAL team to ensure accurate data collection, reporting and client feedback mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with program teams to collect routine data according to the M&E/MEAL workplan.
• Update the project indicator tracking table (IPTT) and Project Indicators Dashboard (PID) with project staff and the MEAL Officer.
• Support field organization of surveys, client satisfaction tools and feedback collection systems.
• Perform initial data reviews for projects implemented in Gezira State.
• Coordinate with national partners to ensure timely data sharing.
• Facilitate information‑sharing opportunities among IRC offices under supervision.
• Collect client feedback during monitoring visits and relay it to project staff for action.
• Maintain up‑to‑date monitoring and client databases.
• Conduct field monitoring visits and produce simple improvement reports.
• Assist in updating area action plan trackers and attend semi‑annual MEAL meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Ability to undertake M&E/MEAL activities under guidance.
• Basic understanding of monitoring and client feedback mechanisms.
• Experience or coursework in monitoring & evaluation research methods and quantitative/qualitative analysis is a plus.
• Experience working with diverse communities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
