Administrative Assistant

About the role
The World Health Organization is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to support its country office operations. The role involves managing correspondence, financial documents, travel arrangements, and asset registers while ensuring compliance with WHO and UN policies.
Key responsibilities
- Compose, draft and prepare a wide range of correspondence, financial documents, payment instructions and signatory letters.
- Extract data from multiple sources to produce briefings, progress reports and spreadsheets.
- Provide basic translation assistance between English and Arabic.
- Maintain the asset register and coordinate asset data collection from field offices.
- Manage service providers, issue and renew contracts, complete supplier evaluations and ensure timely payments.
- Oversee building services and maintenance.
- Verify travel itineraries, travel requests and travel‑agent invoices for compliance with policy and agreements.
- Liaise with the Global Service Centre on travel‑related purchase orders and monitor delivery of travel‑related deliverables.
- Process visa requests, manage UNLP and UNFC issuance/renewal and respond to travel‑related queries.
- Provide backup for other administrative staff and perform additional duties as required.
Required profile
- Secondary education with training in administration or travel resources; university degree in public or business administration is desirable.
- At least eight years of relevant experience in the travel industry or administrative field; UN system experience is a plus.
- Intermediate proficiency in English and Arabic.
- Ability to work under pressure, act independently and exercise sound judgment.

What we offer
- Annual net base salary starting at USD 26,452 (subject to mandatory deductions).
