WASH Officer (Temporary, 6 months) – Renk, South Sudan

About the role

UNICEF is looking for a WASH Officer to join its team in Renk, South Sudan for a six‑month fixed‑term contract. The officer will provide technical and operational support to the design, implementation and monitoring of water, sanitation and hygiene programmes, contributing to the achievement of UNICEF’s country‑wide objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and plan WASH programmes in line with country strategy.
• Manage, monitor and deliver programme results, ensuring timely reporting.
• Provide technical and operational support for programme implementation.
• Coordinate humanitarian WASH preparedness and response activities.
• Facilitate communication, networking and partnership building with stakeholders.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Climate Change, Social Science, Public Health, Water and Sanitation, Behaviour‑Change Communication, Civil/Sanitary Engineering or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in partnerships, planning, programme management or WASH.
• Demonstrated ability in innovation, capacity building, communication, networking, monitoring and service delivery.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language (e.g., Arabic, Chinese) is desirable.
