Service Technician – Mechanical & Electrical

About the role

The Service Technician will work on‑site across Sudan, providing mechanical and electrical support for Caterpillar heavy equipment and power‑generation systems. The role focuses on diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and ensuring equipment meets Caterpillar standards for safety and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of CAT heavy equipment and diesel generator sets.
• Provide technical support for gensets, including engine overhauls and system testing.
• Determine part re‑usability according to Caterpillar guidelines and manage parts inventory.
• Clean, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
• Record all work in job cards, track parts disposition, and prepare service reports.
• Maintain tools and work area, ensuring optimal utilization and safety compliance.
• Meet productivity targets and adhere to company policies, HSE procedures, and quality standards.
• Coach junior technicians and apprentices on technical procedures.

Required profile

• Vocational Training Center Certificate or secondary school education.
• 3–5 years of field experience with CAT heavy equipment.
• Proven experience in CAT engine troubleshooting and overhauling.
• Experience maintaining diesel generator sets and related power‑generation equipment.
