Senior Climate-Resilient Infrastructure Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Senior Climate‑Resilient Infrastructure Expert to lead the integration of climate‑resilience and adaptation measures into transport infrastructure projects across the ECOWAS region. The role supports the EU‑funded Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance, helping regional institutions improve corridor management, infrastructure planning and climate‑proofing.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate climate‑resilience and adaptation measures into transport infrastructure projects and corridor initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance on climate‑proofing methodologies, disaster risk reduction and resilient infrastructure design.
• Conduct climate vulnerability assessments, resilience analyses and climate risk screening for transport projects.
• Develop climate‑resilient infrastructure standards, technical guidelines and operational frameworks.
• Advise ECOWAS institutions and Member States on resilient transport planning and adaptation strategies.
• Prepare technical studies, policy recommendations and climate adaptation strategies.
• Deliver workshops, training and capacity‑building activities for regional stakeholders.
• Support monitoring, reporting and analytical outputs related to resilience initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in civil engineering, climate change, environmental engineering, infrastructure resilience, disaster risk management or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in climate resilience, infrastructure adaptation or transport engineering, with at least 7 years focused on climate‑resilient infrastructure.
• Proven experience on infrastructure or transport projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience in international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
