Power Engineer

About the role

Zain Sudan is looking for a Power Engineer to report to the Building Facilities Team Leader. The role ensures the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical systems across the company's administrative, logistic and commercial buildings, supporting preventive and corrective maintenance, technical inspections, rehabilitation projects, energy management, contractor supervision and electrical safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the condition and performance of electrical systems in company buildings.
• Supervise maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and replacement of electrical installations and equipment.
• Inspect and maintain low-voltage distribution boards, main panels, circuit breakers, cabling, earthing, lighting and emergency lighting.
• Monitor standby generators, solar energy, automatic transfer switches (ATS), UPS systems, power factor correction equipment and related infrastructure.
• Carry out technical surveys and condition assessments of electrical systems.
• Prepare or review technical scopes of work, bills of quantities (BOQs), specifications, cost estimates and technical evaluations.
• Support annual maintenance plans, rehabilitation programmes and CAPEX/OPEX estimates.
• Supervise contractors and service providers, and keep records of completed works, warranties, test reports and as-built drawings.
• Monitor electricity consumption and support energy-efficient lighting, equipment optimisation, power factor improvement and energy monitoring.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in building facilities management, electrical maintenance, building services or electrical engineering projects.
• Experience operating and maintaining electrical systems in commercial, administrative, industrial or similar facilities.
• Experience supervising contractors, troubleshooting electrical faults and implementing preventive maintenance programmes.
• Experience in building rehabilitation, BOQ preparation, technical specifications, cost estimation or contractor evaluation is an advantage.
• Exposure to standby generators, ATS, UPS, low-voltage distribution and renewable energy systems (on/off-grid solar PV, hybrid systems, BESS) is preferred.

Required skills

• Communication and reporting in Arabic and English.
• Use of IT packages such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Reporting, metrics and analytics, including dashboards for executive and board reporting.
• Project management, vendor and third-party management, change management and stakeholder relationship building.
• Analytical thinking, problem solving, planning and organisation.
