Investigation Officer

About the role

The Investigation Officer supports Save the Children’s efforts to detect, investigate, and resolve cases of fraud, corruption, safeguarding breaches and other misconduct. Working closely with the Investigations Manager, the role ensures thorough case setup, evidence gathering, and timely reporting in line with organisational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support initial review of reported incidents, follow‑up with reporters and gather case‑related information.
• Assist and lead investigations, preparing terms of reference, coordinating logistics, conducting interviews, reviewing evidence and drafting investigation reports.
• Maintain accurate case records in Datix, update online investigation and Risk & Ethics trackers, and ensure data quality across all files.
• Upload investigation recommendations, follow up with action owners and engage with internal and external stakeholders, including country office focal points.
• Provide logistical support for training sessions on awareness, investigations and focal point duties.
• Identify deviations from best practice, suggest improvements and provide interim cover for senior risk & ethics roles when needed.
