Deputy Chief of Mission (P)

About the role

The Deputy Chief of Mission (DCoM) supports the Chief of Mission in leading IOM’s Country Office in Sudan, ensuring that programmes and support services are aligned with the office’s strategy and donor expectations. Reporting to the Regional Director and working closely with headquarters, the DCoM plays a key role in advancing humane and orderly migration initiatives across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Country Office to national authorities, diplomatic corps, donors, NGOs and other partners, promoting IOM activities and fostering collaboration.
• Oversee the development and implementation of country strategies, policies and programmes, coordinating with the Programme Support Unit to address emerging migration needs.
• Ensure effective risk management and compliance, strengthening internal controls and providing accurate risk and compliance information.
• Coordinate the planning, execution and monitoring of programmes to achieve efficiency, transparency and optimal use of resources.
• Support the Chief of Mission in managing relationships with regional and national stakeholders and in delivering high‑impact migration solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior management or leadership roles within international or humanitarian organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government authorities, donors, NGOs and multilateral partners.
• Strong understanding of migration issues, programme development and donor compliance.
• Capacity to oversee strategic planning, risk management and resource allocation.
