Country Director

About the role

GOAL is seeking a senior humanitarian leader to serve as Country Director in Sudan. Based in Port Sudan, you will oversee the strategic development, implementation and management of GOAL’s integrated health, nutrition, WASH and food security programmes across South Kordofan and North Darfur.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the country strategy, building partnerships with donors, government and other stakeholders.
• Design and implement resource mobilisation plans to secure diversified funding and represent GOAL externally.
• Oversee programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, ensuring accountability and results.
• Manage and motivate a senior management team and a staff of approximately 200, fostering an inclusive and high‑performance culture.
• Ensure sound financial management, compliance with donor and organisational policies, and oversee logistics, procurement and operational systems.
• Work with the Global Safety and Access team to maintain robust security protocols and lead crisis management and risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Significant experience at Country Director level in high‑risk, humanitarian or emergency response settings.
• Proven track record of leading large, complex programmes and delivering results in crisis‑affected environments.
• Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships and secure funding from diverse sources.
• Strong leadership skills with a commitment to inclusion, collaboration and staff development.
• Excellent understanding of compliance, security and resilience requirements in humanitarian operations.
