Clinic Nurse (G6) - Sudan WFP Clinics

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting a nurse (G6) to support the Sudan WFP Clinics. The nurse works in several locations (Port Sudan, Kassala, Dongola, Kosti, Madani, Khartoum, El Obeid) and provides nursing care and clinical services to WFP staff, personnel from other UN agencies and eligible dependents, in line with medical protocols and professional standards. The nurse also handles front-office support, business support and nursing activities, reporting to the clinics coordinator on administrative and logistics matters and to the clinics Senior Doctor on medical matters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clinic doctors during consultations with patient preparation, basic clinical procedures and follow-up.
• Provide front-desk services, answer health-related inquiries and guide patients.
• Carry out administrative, logistical and procurement tasks with the Clinic Coordinator and Senior Doctor.
• Perform rapid diagnostic tests (RDT kits) according to the Medical Section's SOPs.
• Support health education sessions, health screenings and vaccination initiatives.
• Manage pharmacy inventory, monitor clinic ambulance equipment and supplies, and ensure IPC and waste management compliance.
• Maintain booking and medical records, prepare utilization reports and coordinate clinic supply shipments.

Required profile

• Nursing qualification (e.g. SRN UK) after secondary school.
• Minimum 6 years of nursing experience, at least 3 years directly relevant, preferably in a UN medical service or equivalent.
• BLS certificate required; ACLS is a plus.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.

Required skills

• First aid, vital signs measurement and knowledge of pharmaceutical classes and medical equipment.
• Stock inventory and dispensing, and understanding of cold-chain storage.
• Good communication, confidentiality and customer service.
