Area Manager – North Darfur

About the role

The Area Manager serves as World Relief’s senior representative in North Darfur State, overseeing all program delivery, field operations, financial management, and staff security. This position ensures that interventions align with World Relief’s strategy, humanitarian principles, and local regulations while fostering a collaborative and faith‑based work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise staff, monitor daily activities, approve timesheets, manage performance reviews, and handle HR actions in the HRIS.
• Act as the primary security focal point: monitor the security context, conduct risk assessments, enforce movement protocols, and oversee physical security for all personnel.
• Manage the North Darfur office and guest house, including fleet, IT, and facility assets across projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, line ministries, UN agencies, and inter‑agency coordination forums.
• Oversee permits for staff travel within the state and coordinate onward travel.
• Lead the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all geographically‑bound programs.
• Provide spiritual leadership consistent with Christian values, including prayer and devotionals.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in humanitarian or development operations, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of security management and risk mitigation.
• Commitment to World Relief’s Christian ethos and ability to model it in daily interactions.
• Excellent communication and community‑engagement skills.
