Senior Officer – National Society Development

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking a Senior Officer to lead National Society Development (NSD) activities supporting the Sudanese Red Crescent Society. This position will help strengthen the national society’s systems, structures and volunteer engagement while aligning development actions with operational programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate NSD priorities across the Sudanese Red Crescent Society and its branches.
• Integrate development initiatives with ongoing humanitarian operations.
• Support branches in improving governance, financial management, and volunteer mobilisation.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on NSD projects to ensure compliance with IFRC policies and standards.
• Liaise with IFRC headquarters, regional offices and external partners to mobilise resources and technical assistance.
• Contribute to the implementation of IFRC Strategy 2030 transformations at the national level.

Required profile

• Significant experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably within the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi‑stakeholder projects in crisis‑affected settings.
• Strong understanding of IFRC principles, governance and accountability frameworks.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills in English.
