Security Officer – P4 Level

About the role

The Security Officer (P4) will lead the implementation of Security Risk Management across the five Darfur states, safeguarding WFP personnel, assets, facilities and operations in a highly volatile environment. The role requires strategic thinking, rapid response to emerging threats, and close collaboration with WFP teams and local authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor security risk management plans for Darfur and the wider Sudan country office.
• Conduct security assessments, threat analyses and provide timely advice to field teams.
• Coordinate security incident reporting, investigations and follow‑up actions.
• Liaise with local authorities, UN partners and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated security approach.
• Maintain compliance with WFP security policies and contribute to contingency planning.
• Provide security training and awareness sessions for staff and contractors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security management within humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
• Willingness to work in remote and insecure locations.
