About the role

The Health Management Information System (HMIS) Officer supports the effective use of health information systems across program sites, ensuring systems are well configured, users are trained and supported, and data is accurate and available for decision-making. The role maintains health information systems, supports their rollout to new sites, builds users' capacity and contributes to data quality and reporting. Two positions are open, based in Khartoum and in a roving assignment in South Darfur (Nyala).

Key responsibilities

  • Software implementation and deployment support: assess pre-deployment readiness, plan deployment and training, support testing, installation and data integrity validation, deploy and monitor software, provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support during go-live and post-deployment, perform routine maintenance (patches, updates, configuration changes) and coordinate with external partners.
  • User training and capacity building: deliver in-person and remote training to healthcare staff and end users, assess training needs, run follow-up and refresher sessions, create and update user guides and job aids, and mentor local focal points.
  • Systems management and data quality: maintain systems (users, master and reference data, configurations), check data quality across sites, help site staff correct data issues, and produce routine and ad hoc reports, dashboards and summaries.
  • Documentation, compliance and continuous improvement: track deployment progress, document resolutions to system issues, ensure compliance with privacy, security and regulatory standards, support data protection protocols, gather user feedback and stay up to date with digital health best practices.

Required profile

  • At least 1 year of experience with health information systems, health data or software implementation, preferably in healthcare or NGO settings.

  • Familiarity with LMIS, EMR or DHIS2 is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation and communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Required skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Written and spoken English and the country's native language.
