Environmental Health/WASH Coordinator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an experienced Environmental Health (EH) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Coordinator to lead its EH/WASH programming in South Kordofan, Sudan. Based in Kamuleila, the coordinator will oversee program design, implementation and monitoring, ensuring timely delivery to vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement response plans aligned with the Sudan Strategic Action Plan and donor requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for all EH/WASH activities across the R1 region.
• Manage work plans, budgets and indicators, ensuring compliance with IRC standards.
• Lead and supervise EH/WASH teams, coordinating with the Deputy Director of Programs and field staff.
• Monitor program quality, conduct field visits and adjust interventions based on emerging needs.
• Prepare regular reports for donors and senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental health, water, sanitation and hygiene programming in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to travel regularly to multiple field sites within South Kordofan.
• Strong coordination and team‑leadership skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
