Area Support Manager, Sudan North Darfur

About the role

The Area Support Manager supports the Jabal Marra Area Office strategy by coordinating the support functions (Finance, HR & Admin, Logistics/ICT) and relieving the Area Manager of support duties. The post is based in Tawilah, North Darfur, and is open only to current NRC employees and those who left within the last two years.

Key responsibilities

• Line management of support staff and membership of the Area Management Group
• Ensure quality support to project implementation and contribute to the Area Plan of Action
• Manage the Area Support Budget and prepare regular reports to the Country Office and AM
• Implement new country-specific technical SOPs, train staff and build their technical capacity
• Lead compliance, internal control, corruption mapping and mitigation, and lead donor, internal and external audits
• Ensure HR, finance, logistics and admin systems support the area office throughout the project cycle, and lead the rollout of new systems such as the HR management system and procurement software
• Update the Master Support Budget regularly and ensure efficient, sustainable HR structures
• Support the emergency response programme and reconcile distributions with deliverables
• Represent NRC externally when asked, act as Area Manager when appointed, evaluate partners and ensure value for money in support units

Required profile

• At least 4 years in a middle management position in a humanitarian or recovery context
• Managerial experience in Finance, Logistics or HR (at least one)
• Experience in complex and remote settings; knowledge of the Sudan emergency response crisis is an asset
• Fluent English, written and spoken; Arabic is an asset

• 12-month contract, renewable depending on funding and performance

• Salary at grade 8 on NRC's international salary scale
