Protection Assistant – GBV & PSS (Khartoum)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a Protection Assistant to support GBV prevention, response and psychosocial support (PSS) activities in Khartoum. Working under the technical supervision of the GBV & PSS Officer, you will deliver survivor‑centered case management and group sessions while contributing to community‑based prevention initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support the GBV & PSS Officer in implementing GBV and PSS activities.
• Provide comprehensive, survivor‑centered case management services.
• Deliver structured PSS group sessions for adults using DRC’s curriculum and SOPs.
• Facilitate unstructured PSS activities as guided by protection staff.
• Map and establish referral pathways; process referrals to internal and external providers.
• Develop GBV awareness and PSS materials and organize community‑based prevention activities.
• Support mainstreaming of GBV risk mitigation across all programmes.
• Ensure timely reporting and accurate documentation in DRC’s IM database.
• Conduct MEAL activities, including pre‑ and post‑tests and follow‑up.
• Assist with administrative tasks related to project activities and adhere to DRC’s Code of Conduct and PSEAH policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in protection within international or humanitarian settings.
• Experience with GBV and PSS programmes is an advantage.
• Proven ability to facilitate community awareness sessions.
• Strong commitment to confidentiality, non‑discrimination and client safety.
• Excellent interpersonal, problem‑solving, creativity and flexibility.
