Liaison Officer for Sudan

About the role

The Liaison Officer for Sudan will serve as the primary link between the client’s Secretariat and Sudanese stakeholders. Embedded within the designated government office, the role supports the National Designated Authority in climate‑investment readiness, programming, coordination and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen the National Designated Authority’s capacity to plan, develop, implement, monitor and report on climate investments.
• Support readiness activities, including terms of reference, capacity‑gap analysis and financial management assessments.
• Coordinate inclusive engagement across government, central bank, private sector, sub‑national entities, development partners, accredited entities, civil society, academia, women’s groups and local communities.
• Build stakeholder capacity and assist with public‑ and private‑sector project ideas, concept notes, funding proposals and No‑Objection Letter processes.
• Facilitate implementation, monitoring and reporting through accredited‑entity engagement, issue escalation, quarterly reporting and portfolio reporting.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in climate change, environmental science, climate economics, finance, engineering or a related field.
• At least eight years of experience in public‑ or private‑sector climate‑investment and financing, covering mitigation and adaptation.
• Minimum five years of experience developing climate‑investment proposals and monitoring climate‑change initiatives.
• Proven track record in institutional strengthening and multi‑stakeholder coordination.
