Community Engagement Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Officer to lead peacebuilding initiatives in Khartoum/Omdurman. The role focuses on fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and conflict resolution within displaced and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with project stakeholders to design and implement peace‑building activities aligned with DRC objectives.
• Facilitate community dialogues, workshops, and training sessions on conflict resolution and reconciliation.
• Support the development of locally‑appropriate peace‑building strategies, respecting cultural and social contexts.
• Provide guidance to community leaders, civil‑society groups, and volunteers engaged in peace‑building.
• Monitor project progress, identify challenges, and propose adaptive measures.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and relevant stakeholders.
• Conduct regular field visits to understand community needs and perspectives.

Required profile

• Commitment to conflict‑sensitive approaches and peaceful coexistence.
• Experience working with displaced populations and local NGOs in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to build trust and collaborate with diverse community stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills to monitor progress and adapt interventions.
