Communications Officer – OCHA Sudan (Nationals Only)

About the role

The Communications Officer supports OCHA Sudan’s humanitarian mission by collecting, analysing, and disseminating information to internal and external audiences. Working closely with the Head of Communications, the officer ensures timely, evidence‑based reporting on emergencies and coordinates with humanitarian partners to produce high‑quality communication products.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse humanitarian developments in Sudan, producing regular evidence‑based reports.
• Draft and consolidate flash updates, situation reports, humanitarian updates, and social‑media content.
• Prepare public information products such as press releases, talking points, human‑interest stories, and campaign materials.
• Produce or commission visual content, including photos, infographics, graphics for social media, and videos.
• Collaborate with communications staff of other humanitarian organisations to develop joint advocacy strategies.
• Participate in working groups, meetings and conferences on humanitarian and emergency‑relief matters.
• Review and revise the Humanitarian Coordinator’s information products to meet evolving information needs.
• Collect, analyse and visualise data to identify trends and support decision‑making.
